Sea buckthorn grows wild across the cold, high slopes of the Western Himalayas. The berries are small, sharp, and difficult to harvest — the branches are covered in thorns, and the fruit has to be picked by hand.
This is the first cold pressing of those berries. Nothing is added and nothing is taken out. No preservatives, no added sugar, no colour, no artificial flavour. What is in the bottle is the pulp, exactly as it came out of the fruit.
Cold pressing matters here. Heat degrades vitamin C, and sea buckthorn carries an unusual amount of it — 200 to 300 mg per 100ml, several times what you would find in an orange. Pressing without heat keeps that intact, along with the vitamin E, vitamin A, and the omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 fatty acids the berry is known for. Omega-7 in particular is rare in plants; sea buckthorn is one of the few reliable sources.
The taste is tart and astringent. It is meant to be.
How to use
This is a concentrate, not a ready-to-drink juice. Mix one part pulp with one part water before drinking. Start with 30ml diluted in 30ml of water. Shake the bottle before pouring — natural separation is normal and is a sign that nothing has been added to stabilise it.
Refrigerate after opening. Consume within 30 days of opening.
